Clear mood swings for PR in Batu Pahat
and Muar

JOHOR
(March 1, 2013): It was a worthwhile jelajah
for Pakatan Rakyat (PR) de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Johor PKR chairman
Chua Jui Meng on March 1, 2013.
They
shuttled three political rallies, from Ledang to Muar and then Batu Pahat,
ending their successful trilogy at 1am on March 2, 2013.
In
Barisan Nasional (BN)-Umno’s bastion state of Johor, the response to Opposition
political rallies in the March 2008 12th General Election were
demoralising, to say the least.
Attracting
a 500-people crowd was considered lucky, a 1,000-people assembly was a bonus.
But
Johoreans today are flocking to PR’s political rallies by thousands.
Despite
the hot and humid weather and a working day, some 800 people turned up at the
5pm ceramah in Batu Tiga, Tanjong
Gading, Ledang, to hear what Chua and Anwar had to say.
After
dinner, prayers and a short rest in a hotel in Muar, Chua and Anwar headed for
a ceramah outside Muar PKR’s office.
They
were greeted by some 4,000 Johoreans cheering, clapping and shouting Reformasi!
And Ubah!

During
the ceramah, Chua tested the crowd,
throwing in questions which the crowd responded with loud roars of “No” and
“Yes”, depending on the question.
They
would shout “No” when asked if they supported BN or Najib Umno and “Yes” to PR
and Anwar.
Chua
then remarked that Johoreans were waras
(rational) and the crowd roared and clapped to show their approval.
After
explaining some of the key measures in PR’s people-centric Manifesto Rakyat, Chua handed the stage over to Anwar who arrived
at 9.30pm.
Chua
headed for the third destination – a long journey to Batu Pahat’s Dataran
Sungai Tongkang Rengit where about 8,000 Johoreans, comprising 95% Malays,
waited for Chua and Anwar.
Chua
arrived at 11.15pm and was greeted by shouts of Reformasi!
The
mood of the crowd was equally enthusiastic as the Muar assembly, responding to
Chua’s questions with “No” and “Yes” depending on the question.
Again
Chua said this is definitely a waras
crowd and the crowd responded with claps.
