Johor PKR invites Ghani to land issue

JOHOR BARU (Feb 5, 2013): Johor PKR today
invited Mentri Besar Ghani Othman to officiate at a Feb 12, 2013, forum on land
issues in the state.
The
letter of invitation to the forum, titled Issue
Tanah Johor: Masaalah Dan Penjelasan (Johor Land Issues: Problems And
Solutions), was hand-delivered to Ghani’s Chief Confidential Secretary Mohd
Haffiz at 2.30pm in the MB’s office.
Johor
PKR chairman Chua Jui Meng, who led an entourage of state PKR leaders to the
office, handed the invitation to Haffiz.
Ghani,
who was away in Kuala Lumpur, had yet to indicate whether he would officiate at
the forum organised by Johor PKR.
The
forum is scheduled to be held from 3pm to 6pm in Lee Garden Hotel, Masai, and
followed by two ceramah in Kampung
Melayu here and Taman Skudai Indah.
Selangor
Mentri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and former Perak Mentri Besar Nizar Jamaluddin are
slated to deliver their keynote addresses at the forum.
Both
the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders will also speak at the two ceramah.
Chua
said: “We hope Ghani will find time to attend the forum which is of utmost
importance to Johoreans, especially the majority Malays whose land had been
acquired by the state under the Land Acquisition Act 1960 in the past two
decades.
“Many
Malays have lost much in Pasir Gudang, Danga Bay,,Nusajaya,Tebrau, Gelang Patah
to name a few. The latest land grab issue is Pengerang where the non-sustainable Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical
Integrated Development (Rapid) project is sited.
“Ghani
should not fear to face Johoreans and clarify the many outstanding land grab
issues in the state. He is the best man to clarify matters.”
Chua
urged Johoreans to seize the opportunity to hear from Khalid and Nizar how they
resolved the outstanding land issues in Selangor and Perak respectively.
“The
Malays must come out in full force for the forum and ceramah to get the real and accurate feedback of land issues in
Malaysia.
“You
can help decide whether to keep your land safe from greedy politicians and
their cronies,” he added.
