TEMERLOH (Jan 14, 2013): Mobile fishmonger Daud Abdul Manan’s Kuala Terengganu-Kuala Lumpur return journey on Jan 11, 2013, is a story of determination and political fighting spirit.
He truly believes in the need and strive for a change in government to secure Malaysia’s future.
But his trip back to Kuala Terengganu on Jan 12, 2013, was cut short when his 110cc motorcycle skidded on the East-West Highway on the elevated bridge at the Temerloh R&R.
Daud is now in Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh, fighting to recover from head and body injuries after regaining consciousness from the mishap.

Chua meets Daud and wife Rohaya (left) and appeals to Malaysians to extend some financial assistance for the couple to overcome their current difficult times.

Daud and his friends had planned to car pool to Kuala Lumpur for the Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur Peoples’ Uprising Rally).
Unfortunately, the car broke down and his friends decided to abandon the trip to Kuala Lumpur.
Daud was however determined to make it for the historic rally and decided to proceed as planned on his motorcycle, against the advice of his friends.
He left Kuala Terengganu at 6pm on Jan 11, 2013, and arrived at Kuala Lumpur at 4am on Jan 12, 2013 – a pulsating 10-hour motorcycle ride.
After being part of a historic mammoth rally at Stadium Merdeka that ended at 3.30pm, Daud and a few friends he bumped into took a short rest and settled down for a meal.
The 41-year-old father of six children then started his tedious return journey that landed him in hospital.

Dr Noor Masita briefing Chua and Rohaya on Daud’s condition. Daud is now under observation for head injuries.

Daud’s wife Mek Wook @ Rohaya Awang has been by his bedside in hospital since the night of the accident.
“I have been praying hard for my husband’s recovery. He is a good and responsible husband and father.
“I am so relieved that he is now out of danger and is conscious,” Rohaya told PKR vice-president Chua Jui Meng in the hospital’s Wad Kenanga 8.
Chua was touched to read about Daud’s mishap in facebook on Feb 13, 2013, night. The appeal for financial assistance in facebook was posted by Daud’s friends.
“The least that I could do is to make this trip to comfort Daud and his family. He has suffered for a worthy cause for Malaysians.
“We are very relieved that Daud is now out of danger. We must all pray for his quick recovery,” he added.
Chua also handed some financial aid to Rohaya.
Reproduced below are two separate postings found in facebook which include a BSN account number for those who wish to extend some financial aid to Daud and his family:
