SEGAMAT (April 26, 2013): Johor PKR chairman Chua Jui Meng has appealed to the Chinese community here not to be overly confident of toppling the Barisan Nasional (BN).
“Yes, we are all enthusiastic and want change. The wind of change is so evidently felt that it is certainly going to be an even bigger political tsunami in Johor than it was in 2008.
“Everywhere I go, the Chinese community tells me not to worry about their undivided support. That is very, very reassuring and motivating.
“However, there are some 7,000 plus more new voters registered in Felda 1 to 7 and other Malay areas.
“We hope to garner at least 30% support. The Chinese, however, must come out in full force to ensure Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidates from PKR, DAP and PAS win in both state and parliamentary constituencies.
“Every vote from the people of Segamat, especially the Chinese community, is crucial to realise change for the better, for our children and generations to come,” he said in his ceramah in Jementah tonight.

The ceramah was organised by the DAP and some RM11,000 in donations was collected from the crowd of about 2,000 Chinese.
Chua said: “We now have a Malay leader who dares to champion Malaysians. He dares to say that Chinese are my children, Indians are my children and Malays are also my children.
“He is the only Malay leader, other than Onn Jaafar in 1946, who dare to speak up for all Malaysians. Not a single Umno leader dare say he will do away with race-based policies to fast track socio-economic growth for all Malaysians.
“Please do not disappoint Anwar. Give him and all PR candidates in both state and parliamentary seats your undivided support. Your ballots show that you are the boss. Not BN or Umno and their cronies,” he added.
Chua urged the people of Segamat to show “Najib bin Rosmah” that “we want change
“After casting your ballots on May 5, don’t let Malaysians outside Johor in the peninsula say that the people of Segamat are losers who fear to change the 55-year-old evil and corrupt regime.
“The DAP candidate for Jementah Tan Chen Choon and I know it is a tough fight for us in Segamat as Johor is BN’s bastion state.
“But Lawan Tetap Lawan (Fight, we must fight),” he said to a thunderous round of applause from the crowd.
