Chua wastes no time in his second
day-night-long campaign trail

SEGAMAT (April 11, 2013): Thrown into a
new constituency to take on a caretaker Barisan Nasional (BN) minister
S.Subramaniam in the May 5 13th General Election, PKR’s Segamat
candidate Chua Jui Meng spent another day and night in walkabouts shaking hands
with as many locals as possible.
It
also included Chua taking time out from his day and night-long campaign trail
to pay his respects at the wake of two locals in Buloh Kasap and Jementah.
Chua
and his joint PKR-DAP election campaigners kicked off his second day here with
a walkabout at 8.30am in Pasar Awam Bandar Segamat.
He
received encouraging and warm responses from Malay stallholders who shook his
hands and nodded their head when asked to support PK for change.
Tagging
along with Chua and his team was PKR Youth secretary Julailey Jemadi and his
supporters. Julailey is parliamentary candidate for P.140 Segamat’s
neighbouring P.141 Sekijang.

Chua
and Julailey are planning to set up a Segamat-Sekijang main election operation
centre in a strategic location to make it the biggest in the peninsula.
It
comprises two shop lots occupying all three floors!
After
a brief media conference, Chua and his campaigners headed for the Greenland Tea
House where he arrived at 10am and spent 30 minutes to extend handshakes to
those having their breakfast.

They
then left for Buloh Kasap where spent a good three hours chatting up with local
Chinese community and DAP leaders in coffee shops, walking in and out of shops
to meet the operators and visited the Buloh Kasap DAP office.
Chua
immediately went to a nearby village to pay his respects at the wake of a local
villager when told about the loss.
He
then had lunch with the DAP and Chinese community leaders in a restaurant.

At
2.30pm, they left Buloh Kasap to KSM where Chua spent another hour walking in
and out of a row of shop houses to introduce himself to the people.
However,
he had little difficulty as the majority of the people recognized him as a
former Health Minister.
It
was another satisfying day of walkabouts as the people did not fail to respond
to shake Chua’s hands with some even asking to be photographed.
Chua
said: “The body language displayed by the people of Segamat is simply
electrifying. They really want change, with some even saying that finally the
Opposition has sent someone to seriously threaten to knock out Barisan Nasional
(BN).
“I
am now still networking to focus on campaigning to win the hearts and minds of
the Indian and Malay communities. I will most certainly give extended attention
to this.”
Chua
and his core team of campaigners, comprising local PKR and DAP experienced
local election campaigners then returned to their hotel rooms at 4.30pm to have
their bath and hit the road again at 5pm.
They
drove to the Ledang PKR office in Sungai Mati, an hour’s drive, to attend a
special briefing on Johor PKR, Ledang and Segamat PKR’s electoral chances in
the 13th General Election on May 5.
The
6pm briefing ended at 7.30pm with Chua and his team returning to Jementah to
have dinner. Chua also walked to a nearby shop house to pay his respects at the
wake of a local villager.

After
dinner at 10.30pm, Chua and his team returned to Segamat where they met up with
local PAS leaders to discuss joint-campaigning strategies.
They
ended the nigh just before the clock struck twelve.

and his team have scheduled a third day and night-long walkabout starting with
a walkabout at the Kampung Abdullah pasar
tani at 8am tomorrow.
